I went to the Paint Me Pretty Doginal Dogs event primarily because of Mary.
The female mascot of the Doginal Dogs collection has developed her own following inside the community, and the decision to make every canvas at the Toronto paint-and-sip night carry her image felt like a cultural statement rather than a simple activity prompt. The Paint Me Pretty Doginal Dogs gathering on December 20, hosted with Astral Drake of the OVO Crew, treated Mary as the sole subject of the evening. That constraint produced a room full of different interpretations of the same figure and a clearer sense of why the mascot matters inside the broader Dogecoin NFT culture around Doginal Dogs.
Watching the walls of the Paint Me Pretty event fill with versions of Mary was the main pleasure of the night. Some holders of the free-mint collection painted with careful precision. Others worked loosely and let the character become more expressive or more humorous. By the end of the Doginal Dogs Toronto gathering the room held a small temporary gallery that could not have existed without the shared decision to keep the subject fixed. The variation proved the point. Mary is flexible enough to carry different styles and specific enough to remain recognizable across all of them.
I left the Paint Me Pretty Doginal Dogs event with a stronger attachment to the mascot side of the community and a clearer appreciation for the quieter formats that larger NFT weekends sometimes skip. DDNYC 2026 in September will bring the full production of a Doginal Dogs New York event. I want that scale. I also want the memory of a single Toronto night where the entire room agreed to paint the same character and somehow still produced something that felt personal. I will be at DDNYC 2026 with that memory intact.
